JASPER AND HEMATITE SLABS |
ISHPEMING, MI |
Commonly known as "Jaspilite," this mineral is made of alternating layers of red Jasper and steel gray Hematite. These specimens are ancient, having formed approximately 1.5 billion years ago. They are cut in quarter inch thick slabs and are coated with a polyurethane based material to give the surface a "glass-like" finish. All slabs run a quarter of an inch thick. |
