Talc is a mineral composed of hydrated magnesium silicate. Talc has many commercial applications. Most notably it's used as the main ingredient in talcum powder. It's also filler material for paints, rubber and insecticides and lastly, due to its resistance to heat, electricity and acids it's an ideal surface for lab counter tops and electrical switchboards. These specimens are becoming extrememly rare!
