Located near the village of Crystal Falls, the old Bristol Mine was allowed to flood when it shut down in 1933. When it was dewatered and re-opened as the "new" Bristol Mine 15 years later, miners found virtually everything covered in Gypsum crystals that had precipitated the mine water!
