This is the raw iron ore that is mined in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is close to 65-70% pure iron! These raw chunks are mined from the pit and then taken to a smelting plant where they are processed into the familiar small pellets which are then shipped all over the world to be used in making steel.
